Upcoming Tasting: February 21st, 2012
This Friday at 4:30pm, we welcome Elliott from Nice Legs Distributors! We will start with a delicious Spanish Cava (because everybody loves bubbles), followed by Lumos Single Vineyard Organic Pinot Gris from the Willamette Valley in Oregon (an extremely food friendly wine). We'll also pour Klee Pinot Noir, which is on the lighter side for Oregon, but a nice touch of earth on the finish. Helix Pomatia Red blend from Washington state is big, bold, and fruity, but very well balanced. Puriri Hills Estate Blend 2006 from New Zealand, which is a winery famous for its Bordeaux blends. this does not disappoint. Finally the showstopper: Man O' War Dreadnought Syrah (also from New Zealand). It's so complex, and truly drinks like some of the best from the Northern Rhone.
For the beer geeks out there, we'll be pouring fruit based brews....
- Well's Banana Bread Beer: If you like banana bread, it goes without saying that you'll probably like this beer. It's not wheat based, so there isn't a massive amount of clove, rather clean, delicious banana. (500mL bottle - $4.99)
- Epic Brainless on Cherries: This Belgian Strong Dark Ale was thrown into a chardonnay barrel with cherry puree for a secondary fermentation. The end product is choc full o' cherries and a solid 10% ABV. (22oz bomber - $10.99)
- Shipyard Smashed Blueberry: A hybrid between a Scotch Ale and a Porter. Up front, there are notes of coffee and chocolate beautifully accentuated by the essence of blueberries. The finish is fruity with a hoppy kick. (22oz bomber - $9.99)
- Lindemans Peche Lambic: This is what you might call an entry level lambic. It's sweet, with plenty of peach and bright carbonation to liven the palate. (375mL bottle - $6.99)
- Hanssens Experimental Raspberry: Hanssens lambic, on the other hand, is at the extreme other end of the lambic spectrum. This is a more traditional sour lambic, with hints of tart fruit funk and horse blanket. For those with a wild (and experimental) side. (375mL bottle - $15.99)
Please stop by between 4:30-7:30pm, and as always, all the wine and beer will be 10% off!!
**Next week- March 2nd, we will welcome Will from Global Wines, who will be here pouring some great wines from Argentina and Chile!!
